Surprise! I will be at the pots all week, the tooth is better, thank you all for the well wishes, but I think my pain meds might have increased the ADD hidden within me, these colorways are ALL OVER THE PLACE. I have dyed 3 collections, and the completed ones are here… More to come later, but these are it for now. Please note, I have only 5 of each, so the supply is very limited at the moment. If there is a colorway and a base you would like to have, please let me know asap, I will not be able to dye these again for a while, and the easter ones will not be repeated this year, thanks!a little of this a little of that

It looks as though I have a couple of older updates headed into the etsy shop this evening, I had a couple of repeat dyes to do, and did some extra!

Paradise by the Dashboard light tutorial 2

Hi! I am mid sock club packaging, and update dyeing, so you can look forward to both! Yipee!

This is the second tutorial, and it looks more complicated than it is…A self striping to preserve the color striping and sequencing! This is a 2 ply yarn as well, so if you know how to 2 ply, you can achieve this look with a little preparation…

finished stripes!

See how dramatically different the 2 skeins are? Like night and day, all from the same braid.  Here is how I did it…

Start here

Start here

Don’t worry too too much about little bits here and there that might be a bit thicker than others, you will see how to combat that as best possible, just try to keep it as even as you can.

how your ends will look, also how to spin

split the color repeats into sections

scale shot

weigh each one out

lucked out

place 2 repeats on the scale and try to create pairs of equal weights

upclose and finished

Ok, so the pics give you the gist, but here is something I swear by with this method…PREDRAFT! No, superfluff does not need it, but you will want it to utilize as much of your singles as possible and to keep the repeat of color clear. I predraft both singles before spinning, so I know that the amount drafted will be somewhat the same. Now, as you can see in the pic above, there will be places where the colors overlap slightly. This is where my predraft/single was a bit too long, therefore, pushed the color into the next. If this happens, and it is starting to over lap more than you want, you can always splice the single and rejoin the yarn to keep it even. In this case I didn’t need to, it only overlaps about 1yd, which I kindof  like! In the end, I did have 3.4yds of single left on one bobbin, this was to be expected since my weights were just a hair off…not too shabby for 2ply eyh?

Ow!

I am going to post a new tutorial tomorrow morning, I had a bit of a tooth emergency yesterday, that ended with me in a dentist’s chair recieving a script for penicillin, and an extraction…so…if I am not around much, you know why! I am done with the sock club colorways, and as long as the motrin keeps me stable, I will have them out tomorrow afternoon in the mail! Fiber gals, we are spinnin right along, Sock gals, I know you are knitting your Maeby’s , as soon as I finish my socks on the needles I am casting on too! Love and fribbles, Beck
